INSIDE MOUNT
The definitive choice for a clean, integrated, and custom-built aesthetic. Your shade is installed perfectly within the window frame, allowing the trim to be showcased. Please note: Your window casing must have the required minimum depth to accommodate the shade mechanism.
OUTSIDE MOUNT
Select this option to enhance window size and achieve superior light and privacy control. The shade is mounted on the wall or trim, ensuring full coverage. It is the ideal choice when your window frame does not meet the necessary minimum depth requirement for Inside Mount.
WINDOW FRAME DEPTH
Depth Matters for the Perfect Fit: When selecting the Inside Mount style, the depth of your window frame is essential. Insufficient depth is a common measuring error. This measurement directly determines which Ombrage window treatment your frame can accommodate and how perfectly the final product will sit and look when installed
Minimum Depth
Inside Mount
The Required Minimum Depth is a critical measurement that ensures a seamless, integrated fit within your window frame. This depth varies significantly by product line and its specific operating system (e.g., motorized versus cordless). While minimum requirements can range from under 1.5 inch to over 3 inches, please refer to the Product Specifications Tab on this page to find the exact minimum depth requirement for your chosen shade and its components.
Window Hardware
Account for Window Obstacles: When measuring for an Inside Mount, Window Obstacles refer to any elements that could impede the function or hang of your shade. This includes existing hardware, protruding levers, and the structure of double-hung windows. It is critical to account for these obstacles when measuring your window depth to ensure the shade mechanism fits flawlessly inside the casing.

MEASURING WIDTH
Inside Mount Width: To ensure a perfect, gap-free fit, measure the window opening horizontally in three separate places: the top, middle, and bottom. Record each measurement to the nearest 1/8 inch. Your final ordered width will be the shortest of the three measurements. Our factory will deduct 5mm from your width measurement. Please do NOT make your own deduction.
MEASURING HEIGHT
Inside Mount Height: Measure the window opening vertically in three separate places: the left, middle, and right. Record each measurement to the nearest 1/8 inch. Your final ordered height will be the longest of the three measurements.
Outside Mount

MEASURING WIDTH
Outside Mount Width: Measure horizontally between the two outer-most points where the shade will be installed (headrail position). Record the measurement to the nearest 1/8 inch. We recommend adding at least 1/2 inch of overlap on each side of the window frame for superior light control and coverage. This final, overall measurement is your width. Please note we will NOT make any adjustments to your outside mount measurements.
MEASURING HEIGHT
Outside Mount Height: Measure vertically from the desired position of the headrail at the top to the final point of desired length (this could be the top of the sill or the floor). Record the measurement to the nearest 1/8 inch. This final measurement is your height.
Things to Condsider
Final Aesthetic Check: Headrail Protrusion Even when your window meets the Required Minimum Depth for an Inside Mount, the headrail or valance may still protrude slightly from the frame instead of sitting perfectly flush. This degree of protrusion is common, but it varies depending on the product, the chosen valance style, and the operating system (especially for motorized options).
