Striking a unique balance between comfort and privacy, the genius of the Honeycomb Blind lies in its highly functional cellular structure. Imitating the design of a honeycomb, these shades feature multiple horizontal air pockets that deliver superior benefits, including excellent heat preservation and sound insulation. This construction helps reduce energy costs by keeping your space cooler in summer and warmer in winter, while also blocking harmful UV rays. Ombrage offers a variety of categories in this energy-efficient style, from standard light-filtering to innovative options like top-down/bottom-up and day-and-night double blinds.

How To Measure
Getting the perfect fit for your custom shades starts with accurate measurements. Always use a metal tape measure 1and measure to the nearest 1/8 inch.
1. Choosing Your Mount Style
Before measuring, decide whether you want an Inside or Outside Mount.
- Inside Mount: Provides a clean, integrated look where the shade sits snugly inside the window frame.
- Key Consideration: Your window frame must meet the Required Minimum Depth for the product you choose. Check your product’s specifications, as depth varies by shade type (ranging from 1/2 inch to 3 inches).
- If the product’s required depth is not met, you must choose Outside Mount.
- Outside Mount: Provides superior light control and makes windows appear larger. This is chosen when the frame doesn’t have enough depth for an Inside Mount.
- Key Consideration: The shade will be made to your exact measurements.
2. Measuring for Inside Mount (The Window Opening)
Provide us with the exact size of the window opening. Do not take any deductions; we will make adjustments for a perfect fit.
- Measure Width: Measure the window opening horizontally in three places (top, middle, and bottom). The shortest measurement is your required width.
- Measure Height: Measure the opening vertically in three places (left, middle, and right). The longest measurement is your required height.
- Measure Depth: Measure the distance from the glass to the front edge of the frame at the top, noting any obstacles (like handles or hardware). The shortest measurement is your depth.
3. Measuring for Outside Mount (The Final Shade Size)
For Outside Mount, you are measuring the size you want the final shade to be, including any overlap.
- Measure Width: Measure the horizontal distance between the outer-most points where you want the shade to be placed.
- Pro Tip for Light Control: It is recommended to overlap the window frame by at least an additional 1 inch on each side.
- Measure Height: Measure vertically from the top of the desired headrail location to the top of the window sill. If there is no sill, measure to the point of your desired final length.
- Result: The final window treatment will be made to these exact width and height measurements.
